Althea

(6.7%) Althea is a barrel aged sour ale brewed with hibiscus. This holiday-inspired blend contains mixed fermentation saison and barrel aged Cloudscape ranging from 1-2 years in the barrel. We blended this beer to achieve a fuller body for the colder months. A large addition of hibiscus flowers, as well as restrained additions of ceylon cinnamon and orange zest result in a beautiful and unique beer with just the right amount of acidity, tannin, and wild yeast complexity. Notes of fresh cranberry, hibiscus tea, baking spice, and rose petals.
